Kisomba

The kizomba is a musical genre that had its origin in Angola, a Portuguese excolonia. In the mid-70s - with the presence of Cuban military in Angola, carrying the sweet zouk - several Angolan artists began to create songs derived from the semba - traditional Angolan music danced as a couple and very fast - but slower, romantic and with synthetic sounds, which very quickly conquered the public. It was danced next to merengue, semba and others, at parties called "farras" or "kizombadas", where the term kizomba was born.
In the mid-1990s, the expression kizomba began to be used in Portugal to designate all the African music that was danced, in African dance venues in the main cities of the country. However, the term kizomba is currently used to refer to this musical genre - which can be a «tarraxinha» (very close) or a «passada» (dance more slowly and more openly) is also known and practiced - about all at parties where African rhythms tend to mix with the Caribbean - the semba as a traditional genre, less romantic and more cheerful, virtuous and playful.
